Water for Life

| This photograph
was taken at the laundry tap situated on the sidewall of the Open Door.
This is where the people sleeping in the yard do their washing, get
drinking water and wash themselves. In the humid heat of the city
cleanliness is desirable but for long periods impossible to achieve.
After a long, hot day walking the streets, a relatively cool drink is
essential. The homeless have nowhere to go in Atlanta, and the police
actively move on homeless people from public areas and streets. There
are few drinking fountains and many are situated in private areas
inaccessible to the homeless.
